When asked to be a part of this powerful documentary a couple of months ago, I was 100% up for it for the following reason. As a Christian and a churchgoer, I personally know a few people who’ve had outrageous experiences within their churches- situations that later caused them to either denounce or almost denounce their faith. Out of this group of people, some were able to forgive those who wronged them and some couldn’t see themselves getting over the past.
“It’s unfortunate that the hurtful actions of a person or group of people (whether knowingly or unknowingly) within a godly setting can sometimes ruin someone’s understanding of God and His love. I also understand how a person, who hasn’t healed from past hurt/troubles could be oblivious to or not understand the severity of their dysfunction which in turn can cause them to, whether intentionally or unintentionally, ‘hurt’ someone else. Why do these things happen in an place that’s meant to harbor ‘holy people’? Well, people are flawed. The bible tells us that we need to renew our minds daily, get rid of fleshy desires and focus on Him. We sometimes fail to do this and that’s how issues arise- because someone isn’t keeping themselves in check. So, with that said, Christ can’t be blamed for this we can’t blame God because someone decided to hurt us in an imaginable way – or can we?……TO BE CONTINUED….
